An operatic narrative in one act for soprano, speaker, dancer, instrumental ensemble and video. Part of Thompson’s series, ‘Heroines of Opera’, the piece reflects on a brutal historical episode, in which an unnamed woman who refused to dance aboard a slave ship, was publicly humiliated, viciously punished, and ultimately killed.
